Welcome friends. Today I’d like to share a poem I wrote for our good friends, Sharon and Frank, to celebrate the occasion of their 50th anniversary. It was originally written to reflect their unique life story together, but I have rewritten it to be more suitable for any couple reaching this milestone. Please feel free to use it as is or to customize it to reflect your special couple’s personalities.
A Toast to a Beautiful 50 Years
B is for bound together for the 50 year score,
But it stands for, oh, so much more.
A beautiful marriage, that we all adore.
And beautiful pets, you silly pet parents speak for.
It stands for bouncing babies, and a family’s balancing act,
And a very busy life, we know that’s a fact.
It stands for a man and his beautiful honeybee,
Suttin’ in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g.
Get a room you two! That’s not something we want to view.
There are young folks present. They think you are too old for that.
But when they’ve been married 50 years, they’ll be right where you’re at.
The Mrs. sheds tears at the drop of a hat.
And the Mr. laughs at his own jokes, but most ornery people do that.
But we have to admire, 50 years have transpired.
Think of the storms you have weathered!
And yet, you’re still together.
That’s quite a feat, in this day and age.
And now your ready to turn a new page.
Congratulations! Your in the geriatric stage.
When you gather with friends, you discuss pills and pain,
And yet in the end, it’s not all in vain.
For you’ll leave a footprint from your time here on earth.
Something of value, and very great worth.
Your faith has shown others how you’ve trusted the Lord.
And pointed to Jesus, our greatest reward.
You passed down to the next generation your unfailing love,
And your knowledge of salvation that comes from above.
So thank you for being the model you’ve been,
For the love you have given both family and friends.
May God bless you and keep you through the next 50 years.
You’ve been an inspiration through laughter and tears.
Because we have known you, we can now toast,
And tell you how greatly, we love you both!
CONGRATULATIONS!
I hope you will find friends and family to share this toast with on their special day! God bless you ’til I bend your ear again after Ken and I return from a trip to visit some of our lifelong special friends in South Carolina and Roanoke, Virginia. Nancy Nonsense
